We can't believe it has been a little over a year since we relocated to Boston and we are already celebrating our 2nd Christmas in our new state!
We were so blessed to have seen so much family during the Thanksgiving holiday, we were A-OK

hibernating for Christmas this year and hanging out in the house with our little crew. Plus, our kids have becoming homebodies like their Mama and request PJ days on a regular basis, so we were happy to indulge them this Christmas.

Dave was fortunate to get to leave work a bit early on Christmas Eve, so we were thrilled to attend the early church service, followed by our traditional ham dinner. The kids had made and decorated a cake earlier in the day, so once they finished their dinner, it was time to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. The kids then each got to open one gift from their Grandma and Grandpa and it was off to bed. Since I was slightly masochistic, I had let them skip their nap in the afternoon, so by 7:30, they were both beyond tired and fell asleep within minutes of hitting the pillows. This helped enable Santa to come and finish up his work at a reasonable time allowing for an early bedtime for Mom and Dad. Woo hoo!
Neither child was awake before 8 am, so the adults were happy to stay in bed until 8 am as well! Noah was the first up and had found 1 small toy unwrapped in his stocking. This entertained him while we popped our strata into the oven and he patiently waited until his sister woke up at 9:30 am.
Last year, we tried stretching out the presents as long as possible and we loved it. The joy just seemed to last longer and it wasn't a jumbled fray of wrapping paper and trying to keep up with who got what and from whom. We wanted to do it again this year but were not quite sure how it would work considering the kids were older and much more excited for presents. To our surprise, they were very patient and we managed to make it until after noon before opening the last present. It was nice to get out each toy and play a bit before moving onto the next present. break as Dave prepped the turkey and popped it into the oven. It is also nice as the kids now remember which present was from which person and continue to thank everyone for the particular gifts.
We are grateful for a low key Christmas! We had a wonderful day as a family. Even better, we have a wonderful Savior! So all in all a very Merry Christmas for Team Lewis! Hope everyone else was able to enjoy the holiday just as much!
